About

UVCO, Upper Valley Community Orchestra, was formed in 2016 by Mr. John Streb. We are a not-for-profit organization and rely on donations from the public. As of 2022 we have 60 members with at least 25 alternates. We include local High School members as well as established musicians in the group who in turn mentor the younger members to keep their love of music alive.

UVCO has performed two to three concerts a year since it was established, except for all of 2020 and the spring of 2021 which was during the COVID pandemic. We do June and December concerts when enough members are available to participate and plan on increasing the number of concerts as we become established in the community.

Our Conductor

Mr. Streb, John, has been doing musical pit orchestras for area High Schools and organizations for over 35 years and decided that Shelby County and the surrounding community needed an Orchestra. We have the Sidney Civic Band to entertain the community with wonderful music of the big band era and of marching bands through the years but we have not had an orchestra to entertain the community with classical music or the sounds of wonderful musicals and movies. It has been his dream to start such an organization.

John lives in Fletcher, Ohio with his wife Kathy.
